Combining Physiology with Other Disciplines to Prevent Climate-Driven Wildlife Extirpation

Many different scientific disciplines and techniques claim to be key to determining species’ responses and vulnerability to climate change. In this talk, I will present an alternative approach that interweaves genetics, physiology, ecology, taxonomy, biogeography, management, and policy to produce meaningful maps and promote effective actions to combat climate-driven extirpation.

Agustín Camacho Guerrero is a Profesor Ayudante Doctor at the Autonomous University of Madrid and a former Marie Curie postdoctoral researcher at the Doñana Biological Station (CSIC). His work has largely focused on Brazilian herpetofauna, although he studies a wide range of animal taxa from around the world. His research centers on the intersection of physiological ecology, climate change, and biodiversity conservation, with a particular emphasis on understanding how organisms respond to environmental stressors under changing climatic conditions.
