A call is open for the attribution of 1 (one) Research Fellowship (BI) for a PhD student (Reference BIOPOLIS 2026-42) within the scope of the research project BIOINTERACT (2022.02887.PTDC), financed by national funds through FCT, focused on the analysis of biological interactions in a context of environmental changes.

Admission Requirements: Students enrolled in a study cycle leading to a PhD degree in Biological Sciences or related fields. Academic degrees obtained in a foreign country require recognition, equivalence, or registration of the foreign degree by a competent Portuguese institution, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, in its current wording. This requirement is mandatory at the time of signing the fellowship contract, otherwise, the contract cannot be signed.

Specific Requirements:

• Spoken and written knowledge of English;
• Experience in the analysis of ecological data and preparation of manuscripts in the area of rocky intertidal ecology and marine macroalgae.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in biodiversity data analysis and species identification of the rocky intertidal;
• Experience in the analysis of species distribution data and publication in open repositories, such as GBIF.

The candidate must be able to work well in a team and possess problem-solving skills. The candidate must present a CV compatible with the work plan.

Work Plan:  Within the scope of the fellowship, the following tasks will be developed:

1. Analysis of ecological data from field experiments in the rocky intertidal;
2. Preparation of articles.

Legislation: Research Fellowship Holder Statute (Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, in its current wording); Regulation of Research Fellowships of FCT, I.P. (Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, No. 241, of December 16, 2019, amended and republished by Notice (extract) No. 412/2026/2, of January 7); and Code of Administrative Procedure, approved by Decree-Law No. 4/2015, of January 7, in its current wording.

Workplace: The work will be carried out at the BIOPOLIS Association/CIBIO – Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, located at Rua Padre Armando Quintas nº7 | 4485-661 Vairão, PORTUGAL, but field work is planned for the European coast.

Duration: 6 months

Monthly maintenance allowance: The monthly fellowship is €1,359.64 in accordance with the stipends established by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf). Payment is made monthly by bank transfer. This is complemented by personal accident insurance and, when applicable, reimbursement of contributions to Voluntary Social Security (1st level).

Selection Criteria: The evaluation will be based on the following criteria:

• Global coherence of the CV and adequacy to the position in question (10%)
• Professional experience for the position (50%)
• Participation in works/projects related to the theme of the call (25%)
• Motivation to apply for this position (15%)

The curriculum evaluation (CE) will be expressed on a scale from 0 to 100 points, calculated using the formula: CE = 0.10 × A + 0.50 × B + 0.25 × C + 0.15 × D.

Candidates whose curriculum evaluation score falls within 10 percentage points below the score of the highest-ranked candidate will be invited for an interview. The interview, with a weight of 20% in the final classification, aims to clarify and obtain more detailed information about the curricular elements, the profile, and the motivation of the candidates.

The Final Classification (FC) is obtained by the formula:

FC = 0.80 × CE + 0.20 × Interview, for candidates admitted to the interview.

For the remaining candidates, FC = CE.

Minimum score for awarding the fellowship: 70 points. The jury reserves the right not to award the fellowship if no candidate achieves this minimum score or if the quality of the applications is considered insufficient.

Jury: The Jury will be chaired by Dr. Cátia Monteiro (CIBIO), with Dr. Rita da Silva (CIBIO) and Dr. Fernando Lima (CIBIO) as effective members.

Application Formalization: The application period runs from July 30 to August 16, 2026.

Candidates who incorrectly formalize their application or who do not prove the requirements demanded in this call are excluded from admission. The jury has the right to require any candidate, in case of doubt, to present supporting documents for their statements.

False statements made by candidates will be punished under the law.

Notification of Results and Prior Hearing of Interested Parties: The final results will be communicated through an ordered list by final score, sent by email to all candidates. After notification, candidates have 10 working days to comment within the scope of the Prior Hearing of Interested Parties.

Final Provisions: This call is exclusively intended to fill the indicated vacancy and may be terminated until the final ranking list of candidates is approved, expiring with the respective award of the fellowship.

Encontra-se aberto concurso para a atribuição de 1 (uma) Bolsa de Investigação (BI) para estudante de doutoramento (Referência BIOPOLIS 2026-42) no âmbito do projeto de investigação BIOINTERACT (2022.02887.PTDC) financiado por fundos nacionais através da FCT, focado na análise de interações biológicas num contexto de alterações ambientais.

Requisitos de Admissão: Estudantes inscritos em ciclo de estudos conducente ao grau de Doutor em Ciências Biológicas ou áreas afins. Os graus académicos obtidos em país estrangeiro carecem de reconhecimento, atribuição de equivalência ou registo do grau estrangeiro por instituição portuguesa competente, nos termos do Decreto-Lei n.º 66/2018, de 16 de agosto, na sua redação atual, sendo este requisito obrigatório à data de contratualização da bolsa, sob pena de não poder haver lugar à celebração do contrato.

Requisitos específicos:

• Conhecimento falado e escrito de inglês.
• Experiência na análise de dados ecológicos e preparação de manuscritos na área de ecologia do intertidal rochoso e macroalgas marinhas.

Requisitos preferenciais:

• Experiência em análise de dados de biodiversidade e identificação de espécies do intertidal rochosos;
• Experiência na análise de dados distribuição de espécies e publicação em repositórios abertos, como o GBIF.

O candidato deve ser capaz de trabalhar bem em equipa e possuir capacidades de resolução de problemas. O candidato deve apresentar um CV compatível com o plano de trabalho.

Plano de Trabalhos:  No âmbito da bolsa, serão desenvolvidas as seguintes tarefas:

1. Análise de dados ecológicos provenientes de experiências de campo no intertidal rochoso.
2. Preparação de artigos.

Local: O trabalho será efetuado na Associação BIOPOLIS/CIBIO – Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos, sito na Rua Padre Armando Quintas nº7 | 4485-661 Vairão, PORTUGAL, mas trabalho de campo está planeado para a costa europeia.

Duração: 6 meses

Subsídio de manutenção mensal: A bolsa mensal é de €1359,64 de acordo com as bolsas estabelecidas pela FCT, I.P. em Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf). O pagamento é feito mensalmente por transferência bancária. Acresce o seguro de acidentes pessoais e, quando aplicável, o reembolso das contribuições para o Seguro Social Voluntário (1.º escalão).

Critérios de Seleção: A avaliação basear-se-á nos seguintes critérios:

• Coerência global do CV e adequação à posição em questão (10%)
• Experiência profissional para a posição (50%)
• Participação em trabalhos/projetos relacionados com a temática do concurso (25%)
• Motivação para se candidatarem a esta posição (15%)

A avaliação curricular (AC) será expressa numa escala de 0 a 100 valores, calculada pela fórmula: AC = 0,10 × A + 0,50 × B + 0,25 × C + 0,15 × D.

Serão convidados para entrevista os(as) candidatos(as) cuja pontuação de avaliação curricular se situe até 10 pontos percentuais abaixo da pontuação do(a) candidato(a) mais bem classificado(a). A entrevista, com peso de 20% na classificação final, tem por objetivo clarificar e obter informação mais detalhada sobre os elementos curriculares, o perfil e a motivação dos(as) candidatos(as).

A Classificação Final (CF) é obtida pela fórmula: CF = 0,80 × AC + 0,20 × Entrevista, para os(as) candidatos(as) admitidos(as) à entrevista. Para os restantes, CF = AC.

Nota mínima de atribuição da bolsa: 70 valores. O júri reserva-se o direito de não atribuir a bolsa se nenhum(a) candidato(a) atingir esta pontuação mínima ou se a qualidade das candidaturas for considerada insuficiente.

Júri: O Júri será presidido pela Dra. Cátia Monteiro (CIBIO), tendo como membros efetivos a Dra. Rita da Silva (CIBIO) e Dr. Fernando Lima (CIBIO).

Formalização de Candidaturas: O período de candidatura decorre de 30 de julho a 16 de agosto de 2026.

Disposições Finais: O presente concurso destina-se, exclusivamente, ao preenchimento da vaga indicada, podendo ser feito cessar até à homologação da lista de ordenação final dos candidatos e caducando com a respetiva atribuição da bolsa.
