André Liz
Post-Doc Researcher
I hold BSc degrees in Biology and Geography from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela/Spain, an MSc in Applied Ecology (2017) from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil, and a PhD in Biodiversity, Genetics, and Evolution (2024) from the Universidade do Porto/Portugal. Currently, I am a Xunta de Galicia postdoctoral researcher at Centro de Investigação Interuniversitário das Paisagens Atlânticas Culturais/Spain, and an external collaborator at CIBIO/Portugal.
My research focuses on biogeography, particularly on how spatio-temporal landscape processes have shaped the uneven distribution of living organisms on Earth. I am to contribute to a better understanding of natural heritage and to designing effective strategies that promote harmonious coexistence between societies and nature. To achieve this, I integrate macrogenetic and macroecological approaches, with a primary focus on Palaearctic desert biotas.
