ADVANCED COURSE: MOVEMENT ECOLOGY

This course aims at providing theory and practical approaches for the study of animal movement and conservation. We will provide theoretical background on foraging and migration theory; address biologging trends and state of the art technology to study the ecology and behaviour of different animal groups. Specific modules will present case studies on animal movement/migration analysis methods and how to combine animal movement information with environmental data. These modules will be followed by practical cases.
PROGRAMME
Introduction to movement ecology
Biologging and tecnological tracking solutions for terrestrial and marine animals
Foraging and migration theory
Case studies with different animal groups/technologies covering concepts and data analysis of animal movement, followed by practical sessions. Case studies and practicals on shark, bird and mammal movement ecology.
