Biodiversity and Evolution in Angola and South-Central Africa - ANGOBIO
The ANGOBIO group tackles biodiversity issues within a well-defined geographical context, primarily focusing in Angola, but also extending into other countries in southern Africa and the Gulf of Guinea. The work mostly addresses terrestrial vertebrates, namely mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds, often with a special focus given to rare, threatened, endemic, poorly-known and flagship species. The lines of research span across various fields, including phylogeography and biogeography, systematics and taxonomy, the study of evolutionary processes, demography and population genetics, ecology, and conservation. By conducting these activities and research, the group aims at making a positive and significant contribution to the knowledge about biodiversity in Angola and south-central Anfrica, while enhancing the capacity of its research members and the output of the unit.
