FIRST SIMPOSIUM OF THE REN BIODIVERSITY CHAIR @ SERRALVES FOUNDATION
Coordinated by CIBIO-InBIO, REN Biodiversity Chair, a collaborative project of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the company Redes Energéticas Nacionais (REN) and the University of Porto (U.Porto), seeks to promote top-quality research, advanced training and knowledge transfer on topics of interest pertaining to the monitoring, mitigation and compensation of environmental impacts associated with the energy networks, based on population ecology studies and leading to the preservation of biodiversity.
On February 23, 2017, REN and the REN Biodiversity Chair Team co-organized a symposium focusing on the work developed so far in the context of this project and outlining important perspectives for this kind of cooperation between scientific institutions and the private sector.
This event counted with the presence of representatives of the various institutions involved in the Chair and other invited speakers, namely Joseph Kiesecker, from The Nature Conservancy Organization, and the Secretary of State of Spatial Planning and Nature Conservation, Célia Ramos.
