Scientific short film "The Muge Dog – a prehistoric friend" wins first prize in an international contest
Ana Elisabete Pires and Catarina Ginja are two of the authors of this film, which is a winner in the category of Science Teaching Materials, Scientific Dissemination and Short Science Films.
"The Muge Dog – a prehistoric friend” is a digital animation that tells the story of a dog who is around 7,600 years old. Its skeleton was found by archaeologists at the end of the 19th century in Muge, Portugal, and has recently been the subject of a detailed study using the most advanced technologies available: radiocarbon dating, isotope analysis, genomics and imagiology, which allowed the interpretation of the dog’s life and death.
This short film has been endorsed by UNESCO- CUISC (Clube UNESCO Som e Criatividade integrado no Departamento de Cinema da ECATI-Escola de Comunicação Arquitectura, Artes e Tecnologias da Informação da Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias).
