I am broadly interested in behavioural and evolutionary ecology. My research focuses mainly on animal communication, and in the last years specifically on the evolution of female plumage colours and song in birds.
I graduated in Biology by the University of Évora, did a masters in Ecology by the University of Coimbra and completed my PhD degree in Science (Zoology, Animal Behaviour) at the University of Melbourne (Australia) in 2019.
I am currently a post-doctoral researcher with a Widening fellowship under the project "Evolution of Female Ornamentation: a comparative and experimental approach using island birds". In this project, I‘ll be investigating the mechanisms underlying colour evolution in island birds, combining comparative analyses with museum data, and field experiments, from several islands. This research is funded by ERC Widening Program, in collaboration with Rita Covas (CIBIO) and Claire Doutrelant (CEFE-CNRS France).
