Ana Rita Simões

Taxonomist, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Researcher in Plant Taxonomy and Systematics, with focus on African flora. International career, with PhD from the University of Reading, Natural History Museum of London and Singapore Botanic Gardens, and post-doctoral experience in Singapore, Brazil and Belgium. Extensive fieldwork experience in SE Asia, Madagascar, Tropical Africa and South America. Main lines of research are Systematics, Biogeography and Evolution of Convolvulaceae, the family of sweet potato, morning glories and bindweeds, with current ongoing projects in Kenya, Ghana and Guinea. Visiting Professor at Ghent University (Belgium) and Associate Researcher of the National Museums of Kenya.
