Carlos A. Góis Marques is a biologist, with a PhD in Geology (specialization in stratigraphy and palaeontology) from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Since 2011 he studies the Palaeobotany from the Neogene and Quaternary of the Macaronesian Islands, with emphasis on the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores. He also develops complementary research in the areas of Botany, Plant Ecology of the same archipelagos. Other interests focus on the history of science, especially Geology in Macaronesia, its geological heritage and recently in the area of Palaeoentomology. He has national and international experience as a researcher and invited/visiting lecturer in the areas of palaeontology, geology, botany, plant anatomy and vegetation ecology.
