PhD Student
I graduated in Biology at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto in 2016, and completed my MSc in the Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution post-graduation program at CIBIO-UP in 2018.
During my internship at CIBIO, I’ve worked with both Iberian livestock guarding and livestock herding dogs (Canis lupus familiaris), assessing the genetic diversity, structure and differentiation of Iberian livestock dog breeds, using both autosomal and Y-linked nuclear makers. On my MSc thesis, I focused on the evolutionary history of Livestock Guarding dogs (LGDs) using a genome-wide approach. Currently I have enrolled in a PhD to study Dog domestication.
My main research goals concern the understanding of the history of LGDs breed formation, the tracking of dog breed colonization routes, and the clarification of some dog breeds as distinct entities, using genomic data.
