Dora Maria Rodrigues da Costa Neto
Research Assistant
My academic background, namely a MSc. in Nature Conservation and Management and an Advanced Diploma in GIS, has instilled me the qualities required to meet the needs of my personal interests: they have been the way that allows me to contribute for a balanced and sustainable development, in a world that more than ever is searching for security, comfort and efficiency.
My MSc. has provided a good foundation in understanding the environmental issues in the different areas of life. The Diploma responds to today ´s need for enhanced computer literacy in the management and analysis of digital spatial data. So, in practice, I´ve been aplying this set of knowledge and technologies to collect, store, process (geoprocessing) and modelling geographic information of territorial, biological, ecological and socio-economical nature.
At the end, I´ve worked on territorial and environmental projects, involving research and decision-making, and currently I´m integrating the research team at the 'Rui Nabeiro' Biodiversity Chair in University of Évora.
Research Interests:GIS (decision-support systems), Natural Resources Conservation, Biodiversity, Priority Areas, Species Richness, Habitat Suitability, Spatial Modelling, Statistical Analysis, Discriminant Analysis, Principal Components Analysis, Multivariate Linear Regression, Multivariate Logistic Regression, Geostatistical Modelling, Kriging, Geographically Weighted Regression, Spatial Clustering, Ecological and Socio-economic Regionalizations, Remote Sensing.
