I began my academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Salamanca (Spain), followed by two Master's degrees. The first one in Animal Behaviour at the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville (Spain), and the second one in Biodiversity Conservation at the University of Salamanca. Recently, I obtained a Ph.D. in Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain).
My scientific interests span a wide range within behavioral ecology and evolutionary ecology, particularly focusing on among-individual variation. So far, my research has primarily focused on two avenues: the ecological and evolutionary consequences of both matching habitat choice and the heritability of the environment. To delve into these topics, I have employed a multi-pronged approach, both theoretical and practical, including the use of simulations and quantitative genetics models, as well as experiments in both captivity and the field with wild birds. Now, at CIBIO, my research will focus on studying the fitness benefits of social associations using the sociable weaver as a study model, all under the supervision of Rita Covas and Claire Doutrelant.
