I am researcher interested in ecology, behaviour and conservation, mainly with birds. I am currently doing a Post-doc within the BIOPOLIS association, studying Montagu’s harrier Circus pygargus movement ecology and conservation.
I did my PhD in the BIODIV doctoral program (cE3c, FCUL), studying species interactions in mixed bird colonies established on artificial breeding structures. I addressed how some consequences of group living, such as protection from predators, competition for food, and transmission of ectoparasites, may affect the long-term persistence of mixed assemblages and the conservation of lesser kestrels Falco naumanni and rollers Coracias garrulus in Southeast Portugal. Before the PhD, I did a Masters in Conservation Biology at FCUL, and a course on Tropical Biology and Conservation in Uganda.
