Lara Almeida

My first contact with scientific research was during my internship at the Histology laboratory of the Instituto do Mar, Cape Verde, where I worked with the histological analysis of fish gonads (small pelagics and demersals) for the study of their reproductive biology with purpose of improving management measures for these species. Later I had the opportunity to do an internship in the laboratory of the Cape Verde Museum of Natural History at the Instituto de Engenharias e Ciências do Mar, where I learned a lot about conservation, identification and cataloging of species. During this period I had the opportunity to meet several researchers and closely follow their scientific research work, which made me more interested in this area.
