I am a Biologist with Master’s Degree on Ecology and Environment by University of Porto (2021). An innate observer of nature, I am interested in the study of its phenomena and processes. In this context, during my Master’s Degree, I used geoprocessing and ecological modelling tools to assess the effects of historical land-use and land-cover change on the potential distribution of eastern Brazil mountaintop endemic species. During undergraduation, I also took part in research projects focused on phytoplankton community monitoring; ecotoxicology and bioremediation processes carried out by microalgae and cyanobacteria; and the role played by coastal ecosystems in carbon sequestration in face of climate changes. By integrating research initiatives concerning several Ecology themes, with immersive experiences in the United Kingdom, Brazil and Portugal, in addition to challenges faced within the scope of environmental consultancy, allowed me to develop skills related to data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. Currently, in CIBIO-InBIO, I am part of the team involved in the supporting activities aiming the ongoing implementation of the Regional Protected Landscape of Serra da Aboboreira, northwestern Portugal. All the experiences that compose my trajectory converge towards a common purpose which drives my professional choices so far: the wish to broaden my knowledge and develop skills so my work can somehow contribute to biodiversity conservation and a more sustainable management of ecosystems.
