Mariana Ribeiro
Research Technician
I did my graduation in Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. During my masters I studied the dynamic of a hybrid zone in order to better understand how reproductive barriers and selection enhance and maintain the divergence between two species of wall lizards providing insights into the evolutionary mechanisms involved in the process of speciation.
Currently, I am a research technician working on the iconic sable antelope. The main goal is to genotype samples from captive animals in order to ascribe them to their wild origin population. At the same time, I am working on the genetic biodiversity in wild versus captive sable towards a better understanding of the conservation status of the species.
