I am a Marine Biologist, I graduate from the Università Politecnica della Marche (Ancona, Italy) in February 2021. My master thesis project entitled "Structural and molecular characterization of the female reproductive system of Mustelus mustelus Linnaeus, 1758 (Chondrichthyes, Triakidae)” aimed to improve our understanding at a molecular level of the reproductive modes of this elasmobranch species.
I worked for the University of Iceland, in collaboration with the Hólar University College from March 2021 to February 2022. The main research project I developed during this period was the "Genetic and phenotypic covariation, and influence of plasticity in Salvelinus alpinus (Linnaeus, 1758)”. The genetic work focused on the analysis of Double digest restriction-site associated DNA (ddRADseq) data to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) revealing differentiation between several Icelandic populations from different locations. I presented the preliminary results in the Icelandic Biological Society Conference (2021) in a poster entitled "Population genetics of stream populations of Arctic charr in North Iceland”.
I am extremely interested in working on sex chromosomes evolution in the Littorina system and I will be doing this in collaboration with Rui Miguel Macieira de Faria at CIBIO.
