Sara Marques
Junior Researcher
Sara Marques graduated as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine at ICBAS-UP on 2004. She joined the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases of the Department of Veterinary Clinics at ICBAS-UP on 2002 until now to perform research and teaching activities. She completed her PhD in Veterinary Sciences in 2011 at ICBAS-UP, was a Post-Doc at CIBIO-InBIO from 2012 to 2019, and currently she is a Junior Researcher at CIBIO-InBIO.
Her main research interests are health and clinical sciences; pathogenesis, virulence and epidemiologic studies; diagnosis and clinical investigation of infections caused by microalgae, fungi, bacteria and viruses; genomics and proteomics; bioinformatic tools; public health; veterinary toxicology; therapeutics and susceptibility studies to antimicrobial agents; drug delivery development, impact in biological barriers and its application in veterinary medicine.
She was involved in several projects related to bovine mastitis agents; antimicrobial susceptibility tests against pathogens (bacteria and microalgae); growth rate determination of bacteria and microalgae; viral diseases (rabbit haemorrhagic disease, european brown hare syndrome, occult hepatitis C); veterinary shelter medicine; among others.
