Sara Peixoto

I completed my master’s degree in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution from the University of Porto in 2018, where I focused on using environmental DNA (eDNA) methodologies to improve the detection of several amphibian species. Following my master’s degree, I attended the University of Hull (UK) to pursue a PhD in Biological Sciences, which I have recently completed. During my PhD, I focused on two invasive freshwater mussel species, the Dreissenid mussels, to understand their eDNA spatial and temporal dynamics, as well as obtain an updated distribution of these species within the country. I am now eager to continue my career as a scientific researcher, with primary research interests in molecular biology, conservation genetics, and applied ecology.
