Graduated in Veterinary Medicine and Master's Degree in Animal Medicine, Health and Biotechnology at the University of Cordoba (UCO). Researcher at the SaBio-Group in the Research Institute for Hunting Resources (IREC, University of Castilla-La Mancha -UCLM-). Obtained his PhD degree with the thesis "Epidemiology of Shared Pathogens at the Domestic-Wild Ungulate Interface" in June 2022. 

He taught theoretical and practical subjects in the Degree in Veterinary Medicine (UCO and Complutense University of Madrid), as well as in the Degree in Agricultural and Food Engineering (UCLM) and both Master' Degrees in Agronomic Engineering and Basic and Applied Research in Hunting Resources. He carried out research stays in national centres: SaBioTEC spin-off, IMIBIC and GISAZ (UCO); as well as international ones: Czech University of Life Sciences (Prague, CZ) and CIBIO-InBIO (Porto, PT). 

His main line of research focuses on the study of the epidemiology of shared pathogens, as well as the design and implementation of prevention and control measures against the infections they cause. 

He has collaborated with EFSA and FAO as an expert on biosecurity. He has published 39 articles in JCR, has presented 98 communications in national and international scientific meetings and has written 9 book chapters related to transmissible infectious diseases at the interface between wildlife, livestock, humans and the environment they share. In addition, he has published 13 papers in non-indexed scientific-technical journals. 

Associate editor of the journal 'Frontiers in Veterinary Science', he has been a reviewer of several articles in Q1/Q2. Also, he has served on the organising/scientific committee at various international congresses. Likewise, he has participated as a Work-team or Research-team in 12 projects at European, national and regional level; and some contracts with private companies. He has also directed 4 end-of-degree projects. He has received awards for both his scientific and teaching work.
