Shanyuan Chen

Shanyuan (Jay) Chen is Post-doctoral Research Fellow in empirical population genetics and molecular phylogenetics at CIBIO-InBIO/Universidade do Porto, funded by FCT. He received his Ph.D. degree from Yunnan University with a thesis working on the origins, phylogeography and domestication of Chinese domestic animals. Currently, his research focuses on livestock population genomics and animal domestication. He is also interested in studying the genetic basis of host-parasite co-evolution. In addition, his research has expanded to investigate evolutionary patterns of functional candidate genes across domestic species and their wild relatives.
