In 2022 I finished my master’s thesis at CIBIO, in which I focused on how genetic introgression might contribute to genetic and trait novelty, in the face of climate change. By using hares as a study model, I learned how to apply genomic tools to the analysis of whole-genome information of species and populations.
I am currently a PhD student at the University of Porto, conducting my research at CIBIO-InBIO in collaboration with MARBEC, University of Montpellier. My PhD research focuses on investigating the adaptive potential of the blue shark (Prionace glauca) in response to ongoing ocean changes. To address this, I am developing expertise in generating high-quality, annotated reference genomes and applying population genomic approaches.
More broadly, I am interested in understanding the evolutionary processes underlying phenotypic variation and adaptation to environmental change, and in exploring how this knowledge can inform the conservation of species and populations.
