Sofia Viegas
Communication Officer
I graduated in Environmental Biology and I hold a Master Degree in Ecology and Natural Resource Management. I’ve started my investigation work in Environmental Impact Assessment, developing a formula to quantify the impacts on biodiversity in a more objective way, in order to provide scientifically valid information to decision makers.
Believing that science and knowledge should be accessible to all, I am glad of being part since 2012 of an interdisciplinary team centered on science communication of biodiversity – Serralves 360º – a project which follows the protocol of partnership between CIBIO and the Serralves Foundation. My main activities have been focused on computerization and dissemination of botanical collection of the Serralves Park, including redesigning the existing platform to divulge the species of trees and bushes of the park, and promoting a project of phenological monitoring of some plant species. Besides this, I also act on the activities promotion, which bring forward biodiversity and its study.
