Tea graduated as Bachelor of Biology - Microbiology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Sarajevo. For her thesis, she studied cognitive abilities of the European green lizard (Lacerta viridis) from the Sarajevo surrounding, which was an international collaboration with the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
She began with field work research of amphibians and reptiles in 2018 as an active member of the Herpetological Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina: ATRA (BHHU - ATRA) and Association of Biology Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She participated in activities such as: promotion, public education and protection of biodiversity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as organization of conferences, and biological camps, and obtained SSI Open Water Diver certification.
Currently, she is doing a Master's degree in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. Her master's thesis aims to: i) characterise the gut parasite community of a freshwater carnivore, the West African crocodile (Crocodylus suchus) and a terrestrial omnivore, the Guinea baboon (Papio papio) along an aridity gradient; ii) analyse environmental drivers of parasite diversity and turnover; iii) predict potential future shifts in parasite diversity distribution. These will also contribute to our understanding of climate-zoonoses relationships. Her interests are biodiversity conservation, evolutionary biology, microbiology, genetics, biogeography, herpetology, and marine biology.
