Tomás Pinheiro has a bachelor’s degree in Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and a master’s degree in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution from University of Porto.
The master’s dissertation was entitled "Developing Kelp Reforestation Methods” and was conducted at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR).
He volunteered in the National Breeding Centre for the Iberian-Lynx (CNRLI), integrating the Ethology and Animal Behavior team. Afterwards, he integrated the Coastal Biodiversity Lab as a researcher assistant at CIIMAR through the ALGALUP project. He has diving courses, a Scuba Diving, and a Marine Ecology Course.
In 2022 he was hired as an Ethologist at CNRLI and gained experience in ethology applied to the Iberian lynx conservation, reintroduction, welfare, and health.
His main interests are ecology, wildlife conservation and animal behavior.
