I'm a student at the University of Porto, currently enrolled in the Master's programme in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the Faculty of Sciences (FCUP). During my Bachelor's Degree in Biology, I focused on evolutionary genetics, specifically investigating the genetic diversity of the genus Calumma, a group of chameleons protected by the Madagascar Protected Areas Network. In this project, I came into contact with tools such as R-Studio and developed a special interest in the more programmatic side of the work. That's why I decided to enrol on the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology course.
Currently, in my Master's Thesis, I am working on a deep learning approach to automate the detection of invasive exotic plants on online commerce platforms. This project combines my interests in machine learning and environmental conservation, with the aim of creating tools that can help monitor and control the spread of invasive species traded online.
My skills in programming, data analysis and machine learning are always evolving and I'm excited to be able to use them to solve real-world problems. Ultimately, I hope to find and explore new ways that technology can help us better understand the world.
