After completing my degree in biology at the University of São Tomé and Príncipe I did an internship at the local sea turtle conservation program (Programa Tatô). I then completed a master's degree in Fisheries and Marine Biodiversity Conservation at the University of Algarve. When I returned I started working as a volunteer in the Littlefish-STP project investigating the bioecology of an amphidromous species known locally as "Peixinho". During this period I participated in three field courses and seminars from the Tropical Biology Association (TBA), reinforcing the need for conservation in the tropics.
I am interested in studying the diversity and distribution of elasmobranchs (sharks and rays) in São Tomé and Príncipe and, based on this information, make inferences about the impact of anthropogenic activity and climate change on this group.
