Monitoring the implementation of mandatory constraining environmental measures for birds in the new/upgraded powerlines Carrapatelo–Estarreja 3 and Carrapatelo–Estarreja 2/Carrapatelo–Mourisca (220 kV)
The purpose of this project was to monitor the implementation of the constraining environmental measures directed to threatened bird species breeding, or potentially breeding, in the area of construction of the powerline. It was found that only two of the five potential species actually bred or remained in the area throughout the breeding period, in specific parts of the powerline corridor. The result of this survey led to the construction being stopped in those places until it was confirmed that the mentioned species had ceased their breeding and/or had left for their winter quarters in late September.
