Book: Arqueobotânica, Manual de Boas Práticas

Through archaeobotanical investigations, we can explore various themes related to past human-nature interactions and environmental history. However, Archaeobotany is heavily dependent on application of proper sampling procedures during archaeological excavations.
Here you can access the book entitled "Arqueobotânica. Manual de Boas práticas. Amostragem e recolha de macrorrestos vegetais em escavações arqueológicas”, which is the first Portuguese handbook focused on field methods in terrestrial contexts. Aimed at students, researchers, and professionals working in Archaeology, it provides a characterization of the main plant macroremains found at archaeological sites and outlines sampling strategies, methods for recovering and processing sediment samples, and guidelines for the storage of plant remains.
This handbook book was developed as part of the B-ROMAN project (PTDC/HAR-ARQ/4909/2020), supported by national funds through the FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia I.P.
The Portuguese version of the book is available here.
