Ana Claudia Malhado holds a bachelor degree in Ecology from State University of São Paulo/UNESP/Brazil (2000), a postgraduate degree in Biodiversity Conservation in the Tropics from UNESCO- Fundación Donaña, Seville, Spain (2002) and a PhD in Ecology of Ecosystems and Biogeography from the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK (2008). In the last 12 years, Claudia has worked as a professor and researcher at the Federal University of Alagoas, and supervising masters and PhD students at the Postgraduate Program in Biological Diversity and Conservation in the Tropics (PPG-DIBICT). She works mainly on the following research topics: conservation culturomics, assets in protected areas, cultural ecosystem services, mapping of biodiversity knowledge and shortfalls, governance in UCs, among others. Adding to research interests, Ana has also been working with Science Communication and Dissemination to bring research closer to society, and these actions of communication and dissemination involves the production of content to social media, videos, cartoons, booklets, organization of actions, visits to schools, podcasts, etc. Ana is specially interested in science communication for kids, where she believes, we can contribute to a better, more sustainable and equal future for our world.
