Ângelo Sil

I hold a degree in Biology and Geology, a master’s degree in Forest Resource Management, and a PhD in Biodiversity, Genetics, and Evolution.

I have an interdisciplinary background in ecosystem services, fire ecology, landscape ecology, and forestry, with experience in ecological modelling, ecosystem service assessment and valuation, and ecosystem accounting. My research experience also includes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on national and European research projects addressing landscape change, ecosystem services, and fire behaviour and management.

My research focuses on understanding how ecological disturbances, global change drivers, and land management interact to shape landscape dynamics, ecosystem processes, and ecosystem services. Ultimately, I aim to advance science-based approaches and tools that support informed decision-making in landscape planning and sustainable management, particularly in fire-prone regions.

I am currently a researcher in the SELINA project (Science for evidence-based and sustainable decisions about natural capital).
