Cristiana de Maia Alves
PhD Student
I graduated in Biology (2012) and concluded my Master degree in Ecology, Environment and Territory (2014), in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Porto.
Since 2012, I have been engaged in research activities, within the Predicting and Managing Ecological Change (ECOCHANGE) group at CIBIO-InBIO, which provided me the scientific context to conduct my MSc thesis, entitled "On the use of higher taxa in biodiversity assessment and conservation of bryophyte species".
In my PhD I will be focusing on better understanding ecological networks within plant communities, in the context of land-use change, in order to achieve a new and improved framework for conservation monitoring with special emphasis on forest ecosystems.
