Filipa Martins
Post-Doc Researcher
I have recently obtained a PhD degree in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at the University of Porto, during which I have acquired knowledge and skills on DNA metabarcoding for monitoring freshwater macroinvertebrates. I am pursuing my work in the field of DNA-based biodiversity assessment, aiming to work toward the application of this innovative technique for the study of species, communities, and ecosystems, particularly in Mediterranean areas. I have also prior extensive experience in non-invasive genetics, parentage testing, and population genetics, gathered since my time at the University of Sheffield (UK) and at CIBIO-InBIO as a research technician.
I am keen to further develop knowledge and procedures for an effective molecular-based biodiversity monitoring and conservation.
