PNRVTua – Baseline research for the creation of Parque Nacional Regional do Tua (PNRVT)
The purpose of this project was to prepare, on behalf of the Regional Development Agency for the Tua Valley (Agência de Desenvolvimento REgional do Vale do Tua - ADRVT), the Base Program for the implementation of the Tua Valley Natural Regional Park (PNRVT), including all the steps, from its conception to the formal proposal to the national nature conservation authorities. This process was performed in two phases. From May to December 2012, a draft proposal was put forward, negotiated with the ADRVT and the involved municipalities. The approved version was then put to public discussion at the regional level, before it was finally submitted to the Nature Conservancy and Forest Institute (ICNF). From January to September 2013 the CIBIO-InBIO’s team advised the ADRVT in the technical discussions with ICNF that led to the formal approval of the PNRVT and its inclusion in the National System of Protected Areas.
